I
added the words using WordArt until I get the finished product.
Footnote:
Parker drew this poster size from a smaller picture of him and was able
to keep the proportions correct.
From my experience, or lack thereof, this for me would not have been an
easy task.
It took me six scans to scan the entire sketch and then piece them back
together.

Parker has since won the Freshman Award In Art for other works. ~
Some of which brought tears to the eyes of a WWII Veteran
for a display he arranged as a memorial to the USS Arizona.

I love you too Son...
proud of you.
Thanks for the phone call "Son" ~ "Dad"
is my one of my favorite names.
The following is a story Parker received an
'A' for a few years back with the theme
"If I Became A Parent I
would like to......"
If I
became a parent I would have two children. One would be a boy, his
name would be Bob and one would be a girl, her name would be Dyan.
I would have a wife about 29 years old.
I would like to
live in San Diego, California with my family in kind of a small
house. I would like to have a game room with a pool table, pinball
and air hockey. I would also like to have a kitchen, family room.
master bedroom, children's bedrooms and two bathrooms. Our backyard
would be huge. It would have a tennis court, swimming pool and a
garden. And then there's the front yard. There would be a stone
pathway to the door. Also a fountain.
If I could live
like that, with a box of donuts, I would have a happy life.
Parker puts it all in perspective with that last line.
He has such a wonderful sense of humor and we would eat donuts on a
regular basis... ...he tied that wonderful donut byte into a few of
his short stories.
Those
Times That We Had
I remember all the times we had,
Just you and I together.
I wished that they would never end,
I wished they could last forever.
I remember you making breakfast,
Trying not to burn our pizza.
I remember your made up stories,
more suspicious than Mona Lisa.
I remember the names you called me
Like "Twirp" and "Lizard Lips".
I remember intently listening
As you shared your important tips.
You told me to always love the ladies,
And to always treat them right.
You told me to keep an eye out
For the one that would be my wife.
You told me not to drink or smoke,
The results would not be nice.
Now I wish that you could have listened
To all your own advice.
I want you to know that
This poem is for you, Dad.
And I'm sorry I took those times for granted,
Those times that we had.

A little while back for
American Literature, Parker read a short story/autobiography about a young
man who lived in western Africa
and was taken from his family to be put
aboard a slave ship. The story tells about his trials he encounters
(living conditions, etc.).
The story’s title is something along the
lines of “The Life of Olauda Equiano”… something like that. Anyways,
Parker
had an
assignment to write a poem or short paragraph or draw a picture
about what he got out of the story, and he wrote this poem
and drew a picture of a fist.
Fist of Freedom
From this fist of freedom,
A story will unfold.
From this fist of freedom,
A story will be told.
Olauda Equiano,
From his family he was taken.
He was expecting an adventure.
He surely was mistaken.
He was stored on a slave ship
Headed for the West.
The life he now was living,
One could easily detest.
He had no space to move in,
He had no air to breathe.
He was willing to do anything,
Anything to leave.
He watched his comrades’ failed attempts
And watched their brutal beatings.
Everyday he wondered,
“How can these whites be human beings?”
When Equiano was released,
He wrote his tragic tale.
Himself and others raised their fists
With hopes that freedom would prevail.

entire
drawing scanned and then it was hard to match the shading.

Kristi received an
'A' for a few years back with the theme
"If I Were President......"
If I were President I would
say anybody can do anything except doing drugs and stealing and
kidnapping. That is the only thing people can't do.
Because it is bad if anybody did it. I would send them to jail
and if anybody went to jail they would have to go for 90 years.
If they died it would be their fault because they did something
wrong. That's what I would do if I were President.
