Ever On

Ever On is dedicated to Dan Fogelberg and his artistry in song... ...a place to meet and talk of our love of the music, of the lyrics, of the way his hands seem to effortlessly and delicately become one with the instrument and of his voice... ...that of a herald angel.  Dan Fogelberg creates a sound that takes you to your beginnings and beyond, takes you to a place of timelessness, mystery and wonderment... ...a place where dreams become reality if only for the span of that particular song... ...but... ...those few moments are a gift from beyond our memories... ...and once again we are in the heavens... ...if only for the moment.

No other singer/songwriter in the world
can paint an image in words
as eloquently as Dan Fogelberg.

Ever On was picked for the name after his song by the same name.
It is a travelers prayer.
May you carry it with you as you travel the web.

Dear friends,
Dan left us Sunday, December 16, 2007 at 6:00 a.m. He fought a brave battle with cancer and died peacefully at home in Maine with his wife Jean at his side. His strength, dignity, and grace in the face of the daunting challenges of this disease were an inspiration to all who knew him.

From  DanFogelberg.com

I'm so grateful to all of you who wrote to Dan through The Living Legacy website with your stories of how his music touched your lives; with your uplifting words of encouragement; with your declarations of admiration and friendship.

Dan was a strong and private man, but even the mountain must tremble, and during the toughest times he gained solace and comfort from reading your letters and learning that his music had been a source of light in your lives. Greatest of all though, was the feeling you gave him that his time here had served a purpose.

I hope you will find some peace in knowing that the joy and comfort you found in his music winged it's way back to him through your words, prayers, and good wishes.

Thank you,
Jean Fogelberg

Love is the only thing that matters" ~ DF

A Valentine Song

In February of 2005, Dan went to Colorado for a few weeks to supervise some ranch business and to do some work in the studio. I stayed in Maine to oversee the final construction phase of our Maine house. It was hard for us to be so far apart for so long, especially since we would miss Valentine's Day together.

On the afternoon of the 14th, the florist brought me a dozen long-stemmed red roses; FedEx brought me a CD with a song Dan had written for me just for Valentine's Day. The song is called "Sometimes A Song", and it will be available for digital download at iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody and WalMart.com the week of Valentine's Day.

100% of proceeds from all digital sales will be donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

Thanks for all of your support, encouragement, and condolences.

Happy Valentine's Day,

Jean

This is one of eleven previously unrecorded songs (nine originals) that will be
released later this year on a CD Dan titled "Love In Time".

Special thanks to Irving Azoff, and Bob Ludwig of Gateway Mastering Studios.

My heart is filled with an emptiness at the passing of Dan Fogelberg. I still have not completely let this sad news take hold of me. I've been holding off on facing this new reality... ...that the strings of his guitar and the keys of his piano will no longer have their dear friend. My prayers are that God will help comfort Dan's family in this time of sorrow. You will be missed Dan! Thank you for sharing your life with us in song. The Earth is a better place because of the gifts you shared. As I write this, the tears start washing through me for the first time since I read the message left by my daughter telling me that you had left us.

May the trail rise up to meet you
May your heart rejoice in song
May the skies be fair above you
As you journey ever on, ever on, ever on...

I would like to express my deepest sympathies to Jean, Dan's family, and fans.  I've been a fan from the start.  I also played the Red Herring in Champaigne/Urbana several years after Dan, and tried to emulate him in my performances.  Dan wrote the soundtrack for my life.  The world is a poorer place for his loss, but he has left a living legacy in his music, poetry, and art.  We will always have to wonder, what would have been, had Dan stayed a little longer.

All I have done today is listen to his music, look at everything on the websites.

Saved so many things I found.

Posted him on my My Space

Brett;

Your site Is excellent.

I only wish I had discovered it sometime before today, after learning about Dan's death as I've been trying to make sense and accept it. I thought he was recovering and would return be recording or possibly touring in the future. I had no clue that Dan was near death.

From the first time I heard, "Part of the Plan" on December 24, 1974 when I was a 12 year-old boy, Dan's music has profoundly touch me. His music has provided joy and experiences for learning about life through his lyrics. I only wish I could have told him how much I have appreciated him.

I love all of you and wish all of you my sincerest sympathy and Love. I don't know about all of you but I am here grieving alone! My boy friend is supportive but not a Dan Fan really. I know that we are all grieving and I just wanted like Rox to reach out and say that I am here!

I just wish we could have seen Dan just one more time. I am so glad they posted a picture of him on his web site. He looked a bit weary, and thinner, but reminiscent of his Souvenirs Album cover. I will sorely miss him especially his concerts, but I hope we can keep the EVERON site going and his memory alike for future generations. Like Yoko Ono I hope Jean will keep his memory alive with his music and his ART.

I know that Dan is with us in spirit! I received in the mail Monday night when I got home from work a box of Dan's Chocolates from my friends in Vermont. The way Dan signed his name inside the pamphlet, looked just like Dan Fogelberg's signature it was hauntingly and wonderfully surprising I had to smile and laugh and think " I know that he is with me in spirit" I love it when things like that happen, and I love all of you.

August 13th and Dec 16th are 2 days I am sure we will never forget for the rest of our lives.

Try to have a Merry Christmas EVERYONE and Have a very blessed and Happy 2008!

I was wondering if you could guide me to some info regarding his 1999 solo tour. My husband and I saw him at the Murat Theatre in Indianapolis and can't remember what date it was, I just know he was solo. We will miss Dan so much that I can't even express myself. I would like to have the date just for sentimental reasons. I tried clicking on the highlighted 1999 tour, but nothing came up.

My husband and I have loved his music since his very first song. My husband, Gary and I had dated for a short while when we were in high school and then went our separate ways. After graduating in 1974 we didn't see each other again until 1982 when we ran into each other at a grocery store. When we saw each other, I dropped my purse and the beer I was buying. We connected again because of that night and have been together ever since. Same Old Lang Syne is OUR song.

What a wonderful, kind-hearted man! May his light shine one forever.

Thanks for any information you might be able to provide.

Sincerely,

May You Rest In Peace
Friend, Fellow Musician, and Brother In Christ

You Will Be Truly and Deeply Missed

Dan's clever birth certificate, showing the
creative gene pool from which he sprang forth

"Soaring alone upon a threatening wind

Just fix your eyes on the horizon
Cut off from everything
you've known or have been
I shouldn't think it's so surprising

Spiraling upward on a freshening lift
Reaching the realms of fleet Apollo
You have been given the most sacred of gifts
You must be fearless now and follow

Don't look down
Though your heart may be weary
Don't look down
Though your wings are on fire
Don't look down
Though the night may seem endless
There's a reason you're flying
this fast and this far
Let your faith be your strength
And your love be your guiding star

Venturing further than

the length of your sight
Out past the reach of your beginnings
There is a gamble in each
proud act of flight
But the losses pale before the winnings

Circling and diving with this
freedom you've found
Illusion blows apart and scatters
There is no darkness in this place
that we're bound
Love is the only thing that matters

Don't look down
Though your heart may be weary
Don't look down
Though your wings are on fire
Don't look down
Though the night may seem endless
There's a reason you're flying
this fast and this far
Let your faith be your strength
And your love be your guiding star

Up.....up.....up.....up....."

Brett,
Your web site was great before and I can't explain how much better it is since
Dan's passing. Very impressive and very well done by you.

As I listen to Dan's great music I reflect on so many wonderful memories of my life while
growing up....facing challenges, meeting new people, experiencing the joy that life affords us....

Some of Dan's very memorable lyrics to me were from the Netherlands CD and Lessons Learned track:
Is the knowledge gained worth the price of the pain....are the spoils worth the cost of the hunt....?

Ah,,,,so many great songs and music to forever enjoy with his music and your great website.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your efforts with your Ever On website to Dan.

Best,
Phil Carpenter

Brett,
This the first time I saw Dan, and probably saw just about every show in this area over the last 30 years or so. I can't explain the loss I feel, knowing I'll won't see him again. He truly was a gift to all of us.

Personalize your phone to play Dan Fogelberg instead of ringggggg, ringggggg, ringggggg when you receive a call.  I  made three different Ringtones from Dan Fogelberg songs I had on my computer and on CD.

For my Ringtone when I receive a phone call I selected a clip from "Stars":

Spend my dimes on phones
Trying just to talk but you don't answer
You let it ring

For my Ringtone when I receive a text message I selected a clip from "Song From Half Mountain":

 And high above the pines
I wrote several lines
And left them in a bottle for you to find

For my Ringtone of my phones alarm clock I selected a clip from "To The Morning":

When day will break and you will wake
And you will rake your hands across your eyes
And realize

That it's going to be a day
There is really no way to say no to the morning
Yes it's going to be a day
There is really nothing left to say but come on morning

You can listen to these Dan Fogelberg Ringtones and more in the Ringtone Jukebox above.  Just click on the Ringtone you want to hear and it will start playing over your computer sound system.  Use the scrollbar to see more of my Ringtones.  There is a volume control so you can crank it up or turn it down low.

You can make Ringtones for your family and friends.  My children were delighted when I surprised them with Ringtones of their favorite songs.  They liked them so much that they now want DJ ToneXpress for themselves and want me to show them just how easy it is to make their own Ringtones.  And it is easy as 1-2-3.  3 easy steps: 1-Select a song 2-Create the Ringtone 3-Send it to your phone.

It's EASY ~  It's FUN ~ It's AFFORDABLE
